SUNDAZED
MUSIC

As Art Director at Sundazed Music, an independent record label specializing in reissuing music from the 1950s, 60s and 70s, I was responsible for the coordination of graphic design solutions for all packaging and advertising vehicles.

Package Design

CD Design

I created hundreds of CD designs including retouching original album art for reissue and creating new album art for new compilations. Below is a sample of booklet covers of some of the projects that I handled.

The Byrds: 4-album reissue
With Gatefold Sleeves

This 4 LP set was a reissue of 4 original Byrds albums, including 2 of their most popular releases, Turn! Turn! Turn! and Tambourine Man. The project included creating new gatefold sleeves. I used rare vintage photos of the band and newly composed liner notes written by several prominent music experts to fill the inside layouts.

The Trashmen: Bird Call

This 4 CD set was one of the larger and more unique projects I had an opportunity to develop. The project included the design for the box, 4 Compact Discs, 4 different disc sleeve designs, and a huge 40-page full color CD booklet filled with vintage images of the band, interviews with the surviving members and an extensive history of their lives and music.

Logo Design

BeatRocket Records

I created the logo for a new subsidiary label, BeatRocket Records. Designed to appeal to audiophiles, the music produced under this new label originated from ultra-rare recordings from the 1960s. Type treatment and graphics from magazines and album covers popular during this period inspired my design.

Sundazed Music

Sundazed used different logos in advertising (contrary to common branding standards). I developed several iterations during my time as Art Director, which were used on CD & LP package design, posters, banners, etc.

Print Design

I handled the layout and design of all other advertising materials including a yearly 40+ page catalog, posters and magazine ads.
